Stage Metronome FAQ
1. General
1.1 What are the different tabs in this app for?
There are five tab pages:
- New/Edit — creating and editing songs
- Full Screen — displaying the beat number and lights for live performance
- Set-List — creating set-lists and adding songs
- Settings — configuring app settings
- VIP Membership — managing your membership
1.2 How do I set beat sounds?
Beat sounds are a global property — the selected sound applies to all songs.
- Go to the New/Edit page
- Start playing any song
- Press the < or > buttons below the beat number to select your preferred sound
1.3 How do I change beat lights behaviour?
Three different beat light patterns are supported in the app, that can be configured according to your taste in the Settings screen (Settings → Beat Light Pattern).
1.4 How do I adjust the delay between beat sound and beat light?
- Go to the New/Edit page
- Start playing any song
- Press the SYNC button at the top-left of the large beat number — the Sync Delay Adjust dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Adjust the two sliders to set the delay value (in milliseconds) such that audio and visuals are in sync
- Press outside the dialog to close it
2. Song Management
2.1 How do I create a new song?
- Go to the New/Edit page
- Press the + button — the new song inherits settings from the previous song
- Select the desired meter from the left-hand side buttons
- Select the desired beat pattern from the right-hand side buttons
- Set the desired tempo by sliding the tempo slider
- Set accent beats by tapping the desired beat lights (lights turned blue are accent)
- Press the save button — the Save Song dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Enter a song name
- Press the SAVE button
2.2 How do I edit parameters of an existing song?
- Go to the New/Edit page
- Navigate to the song using the < and > buttons
- Select a different meter from the left-hand side buttons if needed
- Select a different beat pattern from the right-hand side buttons if needed
- Set a different tempo by sliding the tempo slider if needed
- Change accent beats by tapping the desired beat lights if needed
- Press the save button — the Save Song dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Provide a different song name if needed
- Press the SAVE button
2.3 How do I rename a song?
- Go to the New/Edit page
- Navigate to the song using the < and > buttons
- Press the save button — the Rename Song dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Provide the desired song name
- Press the SAVE button
2.4 How do I delete a song?
- Go to the New/Edit page
- Navigate to the song using the < and > buttons
- Press the delete button — the Delete Song dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Press the DELETE button
2.5 Where are songs and set-lists saved?
Songs and set-lists are stored locally on your device, specifically within the application’s cache. We do not store any user content on external servers.
2.6 What happens to my songs and set-lists if I uninstall the app?
When you uninstall the app, all app data — including your songs and set-lists — is permanently deleted by the Android operating system. Create a backup file to prevent data loss before uninstalling.
2.7 How can I sync my songs and set-lists across multiple devices?
Data is not synced automatically across devices. Create a backup on one device and restore it on the other to transfer your data.
3. Set-List Management
3.1 How do I create a new set-list?
- Open the Set-List page
- Press the new button in the Set List box — the Create New Set List dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Provide a set-list name (or use the default name provided)
- Press the CREATE button
3.2 How do I rename an existing set-list?
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Press the save button in the Set List box — the Rename Set List dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Provide the desired set-list name
- Press the RENAME button
3.3 How do I delete an existing set-list?
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Press the delete button in the Set List box — the Delete dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Press the DELETE button
3.4 How do I add a new song to any set-list?
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Follow the steps for How do I create a new song
3.5 How do I add existing songs to a set-list?
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Press the + button — the Add Songs to Set List dialog opens. Do the following in that dialog:
- Select one or more songs from the list
- Press the ADD button
3.6 How do I delete songs from a set-list?
Approach 1:
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Press the delete button under the Songs section — confirm deletion in the dialog
- Repeat for additional songs
Approach 2:
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Go to the New/Edit page
- Navigate to the song using the < and > buttons
- Press the delete button — confirm deletion in the dialog
- Repeat steps 4–5 for additional songs
3.7 How do I reorder songs in a set-list?
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Long-press any song (or press the six-dot handle on the right) and drag it to the desired position
- Repeat for every song you want to reorder
3.8 How do I play the songs of a set-list?
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Tap the song you want to start playing
- To play songs one after another, use one of these approaches:
- Approach 1 — New/Edit page:
- Go to the New/Edit page
- Press the Start or Sync button to play the selected song
- Press the > or < buttons to navigate to the next/previous song
- Approach 2 — Full Screen page:
- Go to the Full Screen page
- Press the Start button or tap the beat number to play the selected song
- Press the > or < buttons to navigate to the next/previous song
- Approach 1 — New/Edit page:
3.9 How do I share a set-list?
- Open the Set-List page
- Select the set-list from the dropdown
- Tap the Share button — a bottom sheet appears
- Choose your sharing method (Gmail, WhatsApp, etc.) and complete the transfer
3.10 How do I import a shared set-list?
- Open the app containing the shared attachment
- Tap the set-list attachment
- Select Stage Metronome from the “Open with” sheet (if it appears), then choose “Just once”
- If no sheet appears, use the file manager to locate the downloaded file
- Tap the downloaded set-list file
- Confirm the import in the dialog
- The set-list loads as the active list upon successful import
3.11 How do I make sure Stage Metronome opens shared set-list files?
If another app is opening your set-list files:
- Open Android Settings
- Go to Apps
- Tap the app that is currently opening set-list files
- Select “Set as default”
- Tap “Clear defaults”
- Tap the shared set-list file again
- Select Stage Metronome from the “Open with” sheet
- Choose “Just once” or “Always”
4. Backup and Restore
4.1 How do I back up my data?
- Open the Settings page
- Navigate to Song Management
- Tap “Backup & restore”
- Tap the Backup button
- Choose a destination folder — the file saves in
.jsonformat
4.2 How do I restore backed-up data?
- Open the Settings page
- Navigate to Song Management
- Tap “Backup & Restore”
- Tap the Restore button
- Select your previously created backup file
Note: Restoring data from a backup file will overwrite all existing data in the app. This action cannot be undone.
